Why did one of my received ratings get removed?

There are two main reasons why a rating you received may have been removed, and you will have received a notification telling you under what circumstances it had happened:

The rating I received was removed by a moderator

This means the rating you received was breaking the rules of the Trust system. Typically, this usually happens because:

  • You or someone else reported a negative rating which was invalid and a moderator took appropriate action.
  • Your positive ratings did not imply that risky trading was taking place. The rating system is not a replacement for the Steam Community profile comments feature, and is only to be used for feedback in a trade which involved an element of risk (e.g. cash trading). Ratings which do not appear to meet this criteria will be removed.
  • The sender of the rating was heavily abusing the rating system, and all ratings left by the user were removed as their ratings could no longer be considered legitimate.

The rating I received was removed by the submitter

All users can remove trust ratings that they have left for other users at any time. For more information, please contact the user who left the rating.

The rating I received was marked as being removed automatically

Currently, this may only occur if sender of the rating obtained a SteamRep scammer tag. All trust ratings that the user has sent out are removed as soon as a tag is identified.
